MUSIC

Music is an important part of what we do on a Sunday and we enjoy a variety of styles: traditional hymns with the organ and contemporary worship songs with a small band.  We also have an occasional choir which assembles for special services throughout the year, especially around Christmas and Easter. The choir is open to anyone who wants to have a go at singing together - young and old, experienced or otherwise, musical or not!

Outside of Sundays, the church is full of music, with many groups hiring our spaces for choirs, ensembles and concert performances. In the Summer of 2019 we held our first ever Summer Concert Series, in which talented young musicians from London's music colleges were invited to give recitals.

This year for our 125th anniversary, Sarah has put together a series of concert and invited various talented musicians including the Séas String Quartet, which will perform on Sunday 23rd July, the London City Brass on Friday 8th September and she will herself perform on Organ Recital on Saturday 24 June. All events are free and music lovers of any age are very welcome.

SUSPENSION: A SERIES OF MUSICAL REFLECTIONS FROM LOCKDOWN

Sarah Hughes, our Director of Music shares some music reflections called Suspension. Leading us around different pieces from the vast canon of church music, she broadens our repertoire and deepens our appreciation of a range of great tunes, old and new alike. Read the text, then listen to the music.
